Ever since Crayola came out with the twistables, it's the only crayons I buy for my kids. They still manage to twist them too high and break them occasionally, but the crayon fatalities have decreased significantly.

Before them though so many regular crayons were cracked by tiny little hulk like fingers aggressively coloring in paw patrol characters. It's safe to say that their crayon bin mostly consisted of broken crayons. So I decided to clear them all out in a bag leaving only the unscathed twistables in their bin and melt down the rest to give them a second chance!

We (my mini me and I) unwrapped and separated them into like colors and preheated the oven to 225. After about 15 minutes of baking them in the mold on a sheet pan, we added in more of each color as needed. They were in the oven for a total time of approximately 40 minutes.

We let them cool for about an hour before we took them out of the mold. They turned out adorable, we had some dollar store crayons in the mix that I think were mostly wax, so some parts are a little clear- so for future molds I'll test this theory. It was such a fun and simple project that gave new life to crayons we would have eventually tossed.
